Mortar edits a mod's config as a form, and other files a BepInEx mod keeps (YAML, TOML, XML, INI, JSON, text) as text. A mod that has not run yet has no config.
- In the Mods tab, select a mod, then choose Edit config under Config (or right-click it, or use its ⋯ menu).
- Pick one of its config files (
config.jsonfor a SMAPI mod, each BepInEx.cfgfor a Lethal Company plugin). - Change a value. Each change saves as you make it, but not while the game runs the profile. A setting that differs from the mod's default shows Reset to default; Reset all restores the file. An info button shows the mod's own description, and Search entries filters long files.
- Presets saves the file's values under a name and applies them to any profile's copy.
The Config tab (Ctrl+6) lists every mod with settings and searches every config file in the profile. A change under In-game menu (Generic Mod Config Menu) says Applied when the game next starts. Delete file removes a config file no mod owns. Centre config controls (Settings › Appearance) sets each control nearer its name on a wide window.
