There's nothing to sign up for, and no server collecting anything about you. A site that needs your own account, such as Nexus Mods, gets your key from you, and Mortar keeps it in your system keyring.
Profiles move between your computers without one too: pair them with a short code, or use a folder your sync tool already carries.
Nothing collected
Mortar has no analytics and no telemetry. The privacy policy lists every service it talks to, when, and what each one receives. A share link carries your profile after the #, which browsers never send to a server.
Mods come from their makers
Every mod downloads from its own page, so modders keep their download counts, pages and support links. Mortar never re-hosts a mod file. The mod sites
Open source
Mortar is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. The whole source is on GitHub. GitHub Actions builds each release from it, and you can check every file it ships against a signature. Code signing policy
