Mortar bot privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026.

The Mortar bot is Rethunk.Tech's Discord app for the Mortar Mod Manager server, and it works only there. Mortar's privacy policy covers the app and Discord's covers Discord.

What it keeps

On our own machine:

• message text
• members' previous names, deleted when they leave
• the moderation record and transcripts of private tickets

In staff-only channels, copies of edited or deleted messages that moderators need for a case.

Anything else the bot acts on as it arrives and does not keep.

Why

To run the server: requests to the bot, private tickets and moderation. Under the GDPR, that is our legitimate interest in keeping the server safe.

Sharing

None of it is sold, used for ads or used to train AI. The only thing that leaves Discord is a bug report a moderator copies into a public issue on Mortar's GitHub.

Your rights

To see, correct or delete what the bot holds about you, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.

Changes

We update this page and its date before the bot starts keeping anything new.
